A 3 hour bus ride, and we were now in the capital. Lisboa was a great city, providing us with plenty to take in during the day, and amazing nightlife when the sun started to come down. We took on another CS whilst here, and enjoyed our time immensely.
For Ann, there is one thing she will always remember about this place and that is the pastries. A specific pastry in fact, the Pasteis de Belem. Never have I seen her smile so much as when she took that first bite into that fresh portugese tart, from the original store and still the best, until she took the second, and third and then fourth bite. We ordered another round they were that good – and I will admit, they were pretty fucking amazing. For me, other culinary highlights would include some of the local drinks we were served, like a strawberry caipirinha slushie concoction called Yggyroska, and even more special than this, a beer cocktail called Pontapé-na-cona; translating to 'kick in the pussy'. Many tasteless jokes were made.
We also found time to travel down to Sintra and Cascais for a day, and these were both beautiful locations in their own right, capping off a great few days here and preparing us for some time in the wild, down south in Tavira.
