Whilst the city was more than able in providing a full day of activities wandering around, all of which was nice enough, it was the nightlife we came for – after being advised that this was the place to be for young party revellers.

It started well, and so did our day, when we visited an awesome joint dedicated to Jenevere (really cool, with hundreds of types of this schnapps like spirit) for some pre-lunch hydration. When we then noticed that practically all the bars, clubs, restaurants and cafes were closing before nightfall, i.e. 6pm, we were not as impressed. Anything left open was unfortunately not all that enticing, and we've decided to put it down to this being the first day of the winter chill rearing its ugly head and having scared off the locals. We’re just not sure what happened here.

Luckily, we did stumble into an amazing little place right before closing, where we got ourselves a chilli-honey and a white-chocolate coffee. A great caffeine boost for our next discovery, stumbling into the red light district – which, much like that made infamous in Amsterdam, features 100’s of young maidens trying to tease, tantalise and tempt a host of degenerates over to their little glass box. Not all that sleazy to be fair, just a little odd – kinda like giant sexual vending machines (and thus, duly, some of the confectionaries came with nuts – the 6"6’ black "chick” was particularly confronting).
