A bit more shuffling around in Fiddy as we bid him adieu, we were packed and ready to go, leaving for the main bus station to take our 10hr over-night ride to Paris. Admittedly, we left it a little late but with a few minutes to spare, so it should have all been fairly easy and our focus was thus solely on preparing for the night ahead. That is, until we walked into the middle of a protest. A huge fucking protest in the middle of the main bus station, with thousands of people walking the opposite direction we wanted to go, and not all that sympathetic to our plight of lugging around our backpacks looking for the bus stop – which as it turns out, after chatting to a few riot cops – was not here. Not anywhere near here actually. It had been moved 20 minutes out of town in account of the pending protests. Fuck.

We got our shit together after some mandatory cursing at those around us and tried our best to scramble and run to the train station a few hundred metres away. We caught the next train out of town, which was due to depart the time we needed to catch our bus. It was delayed 15 minutes due to the protest. Double fuck.

We finally get on the train, run to the bus stop and arrive in a panic, sweating and unsure whether we had totally screwed ourselves out of seeing Paris and London. Our Bus comes cruising in 45 minutes late (which is apparently normal for the service), giving us 10 to spare and calm down a little. Not quite enough to relax into the point of getting any real sleep – as we rumbled along for the 10hrs, sitting in the back of the bus waiting for the night to finally end.

We miss Fiddy already.
