Coming into Florence the clouds parted almost as fast as the money did from our hands, and we were more than thankful we decided to head south. Italia was beautiful from the onset and we got nothing but sunshine during our time there.

We spent a fantastic day and a half touring around the city, seeing some amazing artwork at the Uffizi (without bothering to book), being truly impressed by the David (anyone of its 3 incarnations, being a definite highlight), inspiring grand architecture (Donatello ain't half bad), sampling the newly crowned "best gelato on the trip" (White Peach, Dark Chocolate with Cinnamon combo) learning all about Davinci’s inventions (more than slightly impressed) as well as visiting a mosaic workshop (which was really amazing, as we saw a Mosacian recreate a Michelangelo painting from semi-rare stone. 2 years in, another 6-10 months to go. Price expected to include many, many zero’s). Add to this the hustle-and-bustle of the markets (where we got some amazing produce, including a smoked mozzarella), the bars and coffee shops (espresso’s fantastic as you’d expect), as well as the constant threat of being hit by a scooter (we spotted at least one incident while there) - a really amazing start to our week in Italy.
