A friend of mine once said Cesky Krumlov was one of his favourite cities in Europe. Not someone I generally take advice from, let alone listen to, it was a great surprise to see he was finally on to something. This place had everything you could want for. Beautiful old city with amazing architecture, a river that runs right through the middle of it which you can go rafting on, fantastic bars, cafes and restaurants (including one of the best Vegetarian places we'd visited), a vibrant nightlife and plenty to see and do in the day. All this, and it was cheap (though the locals guaranteed us it won’t stay this way once the Euro comes in). Cesky Krumlov was an absolute highlight on the trip and one of the most enjoyable overall cities we’d seen (we extended our time here twice) – although I did lose one of my favourite t-shirts in the Vlatva on one of the many occasions we captsized rafting, that kinda sucked. Fortunately we managed to find our bottle of river chilled wine (dragged along the back of the raft) each time to help ease the pain.
