Arrived in Bangkok and moved into Kirt and El's awesome little place in Saphan Kwai.
By day 2 Ann's ass had already been DOMINATED...
We took a little fishing boat across to one of Bangkok's only green refuges (the Bangkok Lung), and after getting off at the wrong port, we spent 30min walking around in the blistering heat talking to confused Thai's who clearly never got any tourists on their side of the village. By sheer luck, we came across a bike seller off a little soi, who went from reluctantly letting us hire 4 bikes, to giving us a free guided tour. 4 bikes quickly turned into 3 when we realised Ann had the balance of a blind one-legged drunk monkey dancing on a gym ball, leaving me with the joyful task of doubling her across town, and her the joyful experience of sitting on a bare metal basket holder on a trip which included massive inclined bridges (which crossed 2m wide trenches we could jump over), bumpy dirt tracks and these crazy little paths through peoples huts in the jungle area which were covered by barb wire walls on both sides...after nearly stacking it a few times, we decided to walk those sections...
Yuy was an awesome tour guide, and said he would try and do more bike hire/tours in the future, which he charges a 1/10th of the price for what you would normally pay if you organised this on the mainland (as well as supporting the locals)... If you are ever in Bangkok, you should definitely give him a visit. We'll post his address shortly.
Was a great day and a totally different Bangkok experience and Ann has 2 bruises on her butt to remember it by...
