Helloooooo Virginians!
We had a fun filled day today. Woke up at 5:00am this morning but felt well rested. Checked out and then went to Walmart to load up on snacks. 3 or 4 hour drive to Zion National Park. Stopped at a gift shop just outside of the park. Once in the park we went to visitor center and got a few nic-nacs. Then we drove along a long winding road which was being restored but was very scenic.
Noah
Walmarts are the same everywhere. We stopped and bought a cooler to keep our waters cold whilst we hiked. We kept on driving until we got to Zion National Park. The drive was unbelievable! We've never seen such landscape. Our elevation wound up being over 1 mile above sea level! The Visitor's Center was very informative- we had our National Parks Passport stamped there and I got a cool looking hiking hat. James was not in the mood to buy one for himself- he'll regret that later!
The trail we hiked was wonderful- it was the Canyon Overlook Trail. Pictures are below. Noah blazed a few paths by himself- our nerves were pushed to the edge as he roamed and rambled. The hike was supposed to take a bit over an hour- I think it took us an hour and 1/2. We took a LOT of pictures so maybe that is what added extra time. I think this hike was just over a mile. We had the trail to ourselves for most of the time. That was quite nice! We saw 4 other people as we were getting ready to come down.
The landscape is so difficult to describe- just breathtaking. We saw things we had only imagined. We thought this verse summed it up: Jeremiah 32:17 "Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You."
We are now in Kanab, Utah. Our motel is called the Quail Park Lodge and it is a retro style remodeled hotel. We are very pleased with it. We ate tonight at the Rewind Diner- it had lots of Betty Boop and other types of memorabilia. It was delicious. We rode bikes (the motel provides them) to the restaurant. Then down to Frontier Movie Town/Little Hollywood and toured the backlot where they had lots of western sets and props. We are going back tomorrow to take a few pictures.
A quick update from last night- James did get us out of the hotel room. We walked across the street to Excalibur and got lost in there twice so we came back to our hotel, got hot pretzels, and went to bed. I think we were asleep by 9 Las Vegas time!
We went to the Three Bears Creamery. It has rave reviews on "layered sundaes". James and Noah got ice cream and said it was good. It is almost 9 now and we are crashing.
Sam H. said not to sleep that we could do that in Virginia, but I must say it is hard to make the body understand that. We miss everyone- Jordan and Mackenzie we looked for postcards for you today!
Hope Hobo is doing well. We have no phone coverage so if she is making life miserable we won't know unless mom e-mails-ha.
Will update again tomorrow!

Land looks a little different than where Frisky and Hobo walked today. ha
Happy to see you all having so much fun!!!!
Happy Birthday Rhonda!!! I am looking forward to seeing pictures of the ride through the canyon today! Have a wonderful birthday and hope your horse treats you right . HINT: Don't let him know you have no idea what your doing and ask for a "gaited" horse...won't be as bumpy!!!
Don''t forget I have several cousins in Vegas:
* Bob Page operates a rental car company
* Rose Page works at the morgue
* Teresa Page ? is a Sheriff-deputy
* Glenn Page = ( ya'll met him at Dad's funeral--wonderful person)
( those contacts should cover all your potential issues )
Happy Birthday Rhonda! Kenzie wanted to send you a cake in the mail, but I told her about having you guys over for dinner when you get back. She liked the idea of being able to eat cake with you instead of mailing one to you :) Jordan says he loves you more than anyone else :) and Mackenzie says she loves you ALL more than anyone else.
Happy Birthday Rhonda! Your going to have a tough time beating this birthday trip next year! You're doing very good on the picture taking I'm enjoying looking at them all. Talk to you all soon!
