Where I stayed
Superfast Ferry to Bari, Italy
Woke this morning to the most spectacular waning moon but the photos just don't do it justice.Only a short drive to our first stop which was Methoni Castle/Fortress. Bulit by theVenetians in the 12th century and then taken over by the Ottomans in the 15th century. Whilst a lot of it is in ruin, the walls/moat/gate etc are still intact. The castle has 2 moats which looks pretty spectacular. It was huge inside the walls - too muchto see and not enough time to see it all. There is both a Turkish mosque and a Christian church inside the walls as well as a huge main square.
Next stop was a popular beach area at Zaharo where we stopped for a swim and lunch. It was quite curious when a man was walking his dog on the beachfollowed by his sheep.
Headed off then for our drive to Patras to meet the Superfast Ferry to Bari, Italy which was our accommodation for the night.
