Where I stayed

We returned to a rainy Quito on Monday afternoon, instead of going to the Basílica del Voto National I stayed with the group to enjoy a last meal together. We went to an all you can eat and drink Tapas and Wine Bar for dinner and many of us had a bit too much to drink that night. The next day we had organized a private tour that brought us to Basílica del Voto National, most of Quito Old Town, El Panecillo where a huge statue of La Virgen de Quito stood before heading to telefériQo. TelefériQo is a sky tram that brought us on the side of Volcán Pichincha at the elevation close to 4100m above sea level. In the afternoon we headed to Mitad del Mundo. There is a huge monument marking the Equator line. This place was marked by a bunch of French scientists but unfortunately with GPS technology they were about 240m out. The real equator line is located in Museo Solar Inti Ñan. Given my tight schedule to return to Quito for my flight and the rest of the group lacking enthusiasm to go i just took a picture of the monument marking the true Equator line through a fence window.
