Bad luck tends to cluster together. My PDA mini SD card died after I arrived at Quito. There went my English-Spanish and English-Porteguese talking dictionary and phasebook. Gone also are the maps that I scaned. I am sure the trip canīt get much worse.

I arrived at Quito in the afternoon and made my way to Sierra Madre the joining hotel for the Galapagos leg my of intrepid tour. I quickly headed off to the Old Town knowing my time in Quito will be limited. The city is more scenic then Lima. The old town is full of buildings from the colonial era not surprisingly. Lots of churches but not enough time to explore them. I made a mental note to visit the Basilica Church on my return and if time allow I may climb the church to have a great view of the city. I also intent to visit the Equator line on my return.

This evening I had half a guinea pig for dinner. It was one of my last opportunity to have the dish in South America. It was tasty, just need to ignore the fact there was a head on my plate!

Galapagos Islands tomorrow!
