It's been an interesting day.
I checked out of the guesthouse in Bangkok and left my bags at the travel agency, as I had a few hours to kill. I wandered around until I found a massage place that looked reputable, and made sure I ordered a *regular* massage. Oh man, was it great. And it only cost me 250B ($6.25) for an hour!
I kicked around for a while, and got the book "the Beach," which is set in Thailand from a backpacker's point of view. Pretty good so far, and made me get all fired up about being here again!
When the time came to catch the bus, they led us through all these back alleys and then through a Muay Thai gym (sweeeet) to get there. I was a little concerned about the four guys crowded around the bus, but eventually it got running again and we were off!
The bus trip itself was a tad long, at fifteen hours, but that included breaking down twice and running out of gas once while we were straddling four lanes of a six lane highway. Don't ask me how that happened. Overall though, the trip has been awesome.
I met a bunch of people on the bus, and hanging out with them passed the time pretty well. At the guesthouse I met some more cool people and we went out to eat and whatnot, and this has really increased the fun factor. I've got two open offers for traveling companions to Laos, but they're leaving before and several days after I get back from trekking, though, so we'll see what pans out. I did send out to get the visa, and I'm debating chartering a boat vs. flying to get to Luang Prabang. I've got time.
The damn internet machine ate 20B, so I'm running out of time now. Also, there's no USB on these machines so the pictures will have to wait for now. Take it sleazy!
