Used my new metro card to get to Place Vosstaniya...final goal the restaurant "My Mother-in-Law's House" or some-such name...the only problem is that we chose the wrong exit from the metro and had to retrace our steps across the large square...but finally were able to enjoy blintzes slathered with sour cream and jam...as much topping as we wanted. They had many different salads and hot dishes...but when the corn-on-the-cob came out, I had to have that too--for breakfast, yet (it isn't normally available in Mexico where I live). Then, with our hunger sated, we walked North on Nevsky Prospect, stopping in at the 24-hour Cafe Max (an internet cafe) to case it out, and rewarded ourselves with a dish of three scoops of caramel ice cream--yum! Next stop was the CD/Audio store, where I was amazed to find DVDs for $5 U.S., and software from $2-15...I won't ask how they do it...an Ecco store rewarded us with 70% off on summer sandals and for Chris, Moscow-type flat toe men's shoes...
