Once on shore, Don ran off to find us the best bed she could for the night. Unfortunately the only bed available was in a pretty grotty hotel, with a room that seemed to be the home to a billion mozzies. Normally we expect to get one or two, and with a few well co-ordinated swipes, we would splat them and give ourselves peace of mind that we would not look like the back of the Himalayas when we woke up. But here, just after we removed one from the equation, another two would arrive from nowhere. We spent a good hour splatting mozzies before we gave up and went out for dinner. We also had to find a bus for the next day … we were not staying here any longer than we had to!

The guy at the hotel said he could book the bus for us for nearly the same price as it would’ve cost had we done it ourselves, which saved us a lot of wasted time. Next up was finding an ATM, which happened to be at the other end of town. After a quick trip to the supermarket, we were due back at the pier to get back on the boat for a free dinner and farewell/welcome party … even though we were coming back but not until later. Some people were leaving and others had joined, so I suppose the title suited some. It was a free meal as far as we were concerned, and the beer was cheaper on board than it was on shore for a change, so why not. The food was not great and it felt strange being back on the boat with a new crowd, so we felt very out of place. Soon after dinner was done we headed back to dry land with a couple of ladies who were also leaving the trip. We went to a restaurant with them for another drink because it was too early to go back to the mozzie fest. But after an hour we had to give in a go back because we had to be up at 5.30am.

The mozzies for some reason were the non-biting type and by the time morning came, we seemed to have fared quite well considering. Anyway we had no time to worry about mozzie bites because we had a bus to catch … we were off to Bajawa.
