This week started out with some major celebrations. It was all about Columbus' arrival in the new world. No one had school on Tuesday and tons of people went to the city center to see a parade with the royal family, the president and the military. I got up early and went into the city to join Irma et al. for a breakfast of cheese empanadillas and tea with honey. By the time we got into the city center, though, the parade was finished and we just walked around. In the evening there was a Latin American Cultural festival in the Parque de Atracciones. Irma's roommate, Janet, was helping out behind the scenes at this festival and so she was able to get us free tickets. I loved the Columbian music that they played towards the end! Kinda had a bayou style.
