Florence is the city where the Statue of David is located as well as about a million other naked men, at first it was a little akward, but after awhile you just get used to turning the corner on the street and finding about 6 statues of men in very provacative poses... The Statue of David itself was really impressive though--it was carved from a solid piece of marble and it was huge!! We climbed to the top of the el Duomo (church) and got a spectacular view of the city--it was cool to see all the red roofs of the city and then all of a sudden it turned into the Alps. The weather was a little gloomy for this whole trip and it seems like weather can really make or break a trip, but we tried to make the best of it and ventured out into the city anyways to find a huge market of little booths selling anything leather or silk--really cool stuff and all made with 100% Italian leather. Of course we also ate a lot of gelato here so that made up for the rainy weather :)
