Where I stayed
Patrizia Apartments
Cinque Terre was the perfect place to end our Italian adventure and we were all glad to be back on the coast and see the waves crashing into shore. Cinque Terre consists of 5 small villages that you can either walk to or train to. We luckily stayed in the first villiage, Riomaggoire where we plopped our bags down. The weather was perfect for hiking so we set out to hike to the next three villages -- it had rained the day before so some of the trails wer a little muddy and it turns out that they close some of them because of the risk of landslide....we didn't know this so when we came across a locked gate, the boys thought it was smart to scale it and keep going! Luckily we didn't run into any landslides and we made it to the next village okay after jumping another fence. We stopped at each village for some local wine and to look out at the beautiful countryside/vineyards/ocean/city -- it was pretty surreal! We got pretty tired after hiking to two villages so we took the train to the fourth and had a nice dinner there to end our amazing Spring Break in Italy. The next day we planned on going to Pisa to see the leaning tower and that is where we flew out of, but turns out, the trains don't run nearly as often on Sundays, so we didn't make into Pisa in time to see the tower which was a bummer, but we were all ready to go home, so it was okay--at least we made our flight!!
