Rome was packed full of history--it seemed that everywhere we turned there was ancient ruins, or the pantheon, or the colloseum, or the trivi fountain, or the spanish steps!! It was really interesting to listen and read the guides and learn about the people that walked on the same steps and lived in the same buildings thousands of years ago-pretty mind blowing!! Vatican City was also pretty impressive, I didn't get to see the pope, but we avoided the really longs lines by going in the morning and got to enjoy the St. Peter's Cathedral and the Sistene Chapel without having to elbow our way through huge crowds.
