Alright, I know its been a while. Things have been crazy here..so here finally are the pictures from our Liverpool field trip last Friday. Steve Millward took all 17 of us on a coach 35 miles to the west to Liverpool, famous port and even more famously the home of the Beatles. I like the Beatles, I've never been a die-hard fan, but it was really fun to see where they were born (even concieved...umm...) and raised and where they got their start in bands and stuff. Steve knew just about every detail of all of the fab four's lives (and their songs). He was born and raised there, so I guess thats where the obsession starts(even born in the same hospital as John Lennon). All morning we went around to all the locations and then went to Albert Dock for Lunch. It was GORGEOUS. This port was a main port for immigrants to hop on boats and sail to Ellis Island. So cool connection to the states. It is still used, but not in the same way. Then we had a choice on what to do for the afternoon. I chose to pay the 6 quid to slap on some headphones and walk through the "Beatles Experience" museum (figured I'd stick with the theme of the day..) it was incredible. I didn't listen to every single thing the tour guide on the tape said, but instead decided just to get lost in the walk through the recreations of the Pubs, clubs and recording studios that helped send the Beatles to the top of Pop Music history. It was crazy how realistic everything was, and detailed all aspects of their lives during their rise to fame, and their fall from the top. At the end, there is one room that is an exact replica of the white room, where John and Yoko locked themselves in and wrote Imagine. It was so powerful (I even teared up a little..). The tape stopped, and Imagine was playing in this pristine room that was only white. A grand piano was the only thing in the room, and on top of it was a picture of Yoko and John, and John's famous sunglasses. On the opposite wall from the replica, was the story of John's death (assasination, I guess you could call it..). It was just moving...
The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out w/ Brits at the Bop (a "dance" and bar in the bar in my accomedation), running, and going to Museums in Manchester. Saw some real mummies (gross, but interesting). Also went to the Art Gallery, which was fun...spent almost 2 hours just staring at Pictures...This week is going much slower than last, I think that everyone in my program is simply dreading next week (what we like to call hell...). We have 3 projects and a test. Was going to go to Bath and Stonehenge this weekend, but decided to postpone it until next weekend (after everything is over...). So, that will be booked soon. Yesterday I finished booking me and Luke's spring break adventure (Paris and venice.. :o) ) and Booked flights to my Tuscan Easter Getaway..Mmm...Can't wait.
The following pictures are from Liverpool, the Museum, and Kareoke Night at Footage last night...
Keep following..I'm having more adventures everyday... :o)
