We took a 2 day trip to the Mekong Delta to see what Vietnamese life was like in the far south, as well as bid the Mekong a final farewell. We had a good time taking lots of boat rides and ferries as well. We also visited a floating market, where locals sell produce from boat to boat. But the highlight for me would have to be holding a python. We didn't even know it was part of the trip, but when we stopped at a little Island to have some special tea and honey we were suprised to find and local letting some foreigners hold this huge python. We figured it must be safe since others had no problem so Joel and I jumped in next to take our turn. The feeling of the snake slithering against my back made me a bit tense, but not enough to put it down before Joel got a nice shot for the old album. When it was Joel's turn the snake actually curled its head around to his side and poked him with its tongue. Guess he was done being in the spotlight for that day. Another highlight of the trip was taking a canoe down a small branch of the river that was almost entirely shaded by bamboo and other trees. It was really beautiful. It was also our first time wearing the famed conical hats. They really help to keep the blazing sun from wearing you down.
