We had a little wait in the station so got some tea as we were going to be on the train for 16hours and only had small snacks with us. We got on the train and left at 6.45pm. The tarin was fairly comfortable with plenty of leg roon and we were given a blanket and pillow. I was glad to have my blow up cusion and sleeping bag liner as I think I would have got cold in the night. I felt sleepy quite quickly but read for a while and wrote postcards until I dozed off properly at approximatly 12.30am.
I didn't wake properly until about 9.30am although I had been waking a lot during the night as my back was hurting. I had some breakfast (a peach, pear and a bagle) and read for a bit. We had to wait 45mins for another train as they only have a single track for most of the line. I dozed off again and woke 5mins before our arrival in Moncton (the train was on time despite the delay). We had changed time zones so had lost an hour and arrived at 11.45am.
We found the hostel and settled in. It is ncie and feels like home in a way. We met a girl from Germany who like us was keen to get to Hopewell rocks and Fundy national park but had also heard that a car was required to get there. We discussed hiring a car however after a trip to the tourist information we found that there was a small company that does tours of the area so we decided to go for that. Ben went to bed and I stayed up talking to a fascinating man in his 60's who has a house in Scotland but rarely stays there as he rents it out to uni students. He spends much of his time travelling on his motorbike and has been to many places despite having a bad leg from a motorbike accident. His daughter also lives in Pudsey - small world!!
