From Ranong, Thailand to Kawthaung, Myanmar.

Now Myanmar is definitely the jewel of South East Asia.  Taking a long, leaky wooden boat made for eight people with a f***n noisy propellor on a rotatable stick back 50 years into the past - although only 30 minutes according to the clock!  People go about an extremely outdated way of life here of net fishing and stick houses the whole 30 minute+ journey across the sea.

Coming into this town was interesting, a little scary being so far into the wopwops!  The little town called Kawthaung is cute and easy to walk around.  It sits in a little valley hole and you can climb the hills on both ends of the town and see the views all from opposite directions.  The temple on the east side is just amazing.  Golden and shiny sitting on shiny and white marble tiles.  Views of the bay dotted with islands and banana trees and the feeling of ancient buddhas in pure nature.  I love Myanmar!!

I'm glad the modernisation in Thailand hasn't hit Myanmar yet.  It's well worth visiting before it does.  Here water in the streets still runs clear and the shower water fresh.  Not like Thailand where all water is black with slop and grime and tar and oil!

GO MYANMAR!
