Woke up late morning to torrential rain, but decided to venture out. After acquiring an umbrella and some lunch (jet lagged, we had slept in until 11am when Sophie dragged me out of bed) we then explored Orchard Road, found the CBD area, and Raffles Hotel (via many shopping malls). We used the MRT (metro) loads, which was very frequent, clean and spacious, puts anything we have in the UK to shame! Though, in Singapore it sings "the train is coming, the train is coming, please start to queue and enjoy your ride!" as the train is approaching, very novel.

We then walked to Marina Bay where "even the sky is not the limit", (via the Singapore Flyer and the Youth Olympic Games Park). Here, in Singapore they are just building everywhere and into the night! At this point the sun was coming out and we stopped being soaked and went instead to being hot hot hot!

After some exploring we went to the Golden Mile Complex (neither golden or a mile) to book coach tickets from travel agents and had some Thai food. Everywhere else in Singapore was so modern and upmarket, the Golden Mile Complex however was an "interesting place", made the Pentagon Centre (in Chatham) look well...better.

Went back to Marina Bay to take some night photos, crossed the double helix footbridge and back to the hostel for an early 11pm finish (4pm British time).

Best wishes

Keiron.
