Where I stayed
Hostel Mayflower
Ok, enough is enough and we're ready to head off toward the coast. We“re both a bit bored here, it“s really nice - but not for people who really like to party like us.
We“re gonna catch a bus to Puerto Escondido - which is on the beach and looks amazing. Got an e-mail from Dave (the one i mashed up) and he“s down there, so we“re gonna link up with him. We can get a bus for 120 pesos apparently, so will go and check that out.
Haven“t done much today except sort out me photos, journal and go to the post office. Going to the post office has to be the hardest thing i have done yet, believe it or not! I“ve got the spanish for “hello, can i have 2 beers please“ down, no probs - but could i ask for some stuff to be sent home registered mail - hell no! Or a hard back envelope? Got there in the end though, with much laughter and these little old ladies.
So, got to Puerto Escondido in one piece - yep, got the locals bus for 120 pesos (6hrs), then had to change at Pochutla and get another one for 1 1/2hrs (20 pesos). It was bloody roasting and the bus was full to a ridiculous capacity - but cheap, so no complaints here.
Checked into the hostel, Hostel Mayflower - which had come highly recommended by other people i“ve met. Had e-mailed Dave yesterday to let him no where we“re staying, so he“d checked in there too. It felt kinda weird when the guy on reception said “Oh, your Keilly! Dave“s here!“. Went to our room, Dave was unpacking - dumped our stuff, said Żo!“to our new surfer roomies and it was time for a good few beers.
Took a stroll along the beach and stopped at the first restaurant/bar with a happy hour. We had some food, then drank shitloads of cocktails (buy one, get one free - ennit!) - so left there very 'happy' indeed.
We walked for 10 minutes or so, then stopped off at another bar. Sat down, ordered in some beers and let the drinking games commence. I roped in the people sitting at table next to us - so we had a decent size group. They were Mexican and American and one English dude called Tom, who is studying out here.
Needless to say, we all got pretty hammered, Tom managed to score some green - so we went back to our hostel for a smoke.
Pulled out a magazine from my bag to skin up on and started filling in the boys on all the celebrity gossip. Half of the people, they had never heard of - but they were shocked to see Miranda from Sex in the City's new lesbian lover (Ginger Shrek - i call her). Then that was it - they were hooked, and flicked through every mag i had, slagging people off, oggling others and generally had a laugh.
