Where I stayed
We followed route 400 along the coast all the way to Fethiye except for the detour to Patara
On the drive up to Fethiye we stopped at ancient Myra, and the church of St. Nicholas. It was very hot (still in the heat wave) and there were hordes of Russian tourist groups at both places, but still worth the visit.
Later in the afternoon we arrived at Patara were we stopped for a swim at beautiful Patara beach and a late afternoon walk through the ruins of ancient Patara. It was just us and 2 other people in the ruins. Next time I will spend a bit more time here.
As we drove up the coast this day from Cirali we saw lots of small beaches to stop and swim, but all of them had someone at the top charging money to get into. It is so different from Canada where there are so many public parks and beaches that are open to all free of charge (taxpayer funded).
Duygu Pension, Fethiye
90 YL triple, 60 TL double
Located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood just west of the town centre, with beautiful bay views. This place had the tiniest rooms, the roughest bedsheets, and the smallest wet bathrooms we experienced on our trip. The owner asked us to give him good reviews on Trip Advisor, but I can only give mixed reviews. Next time I would probably look for another place.
