On Friday we went to the Singapore Zoo. It was absolutely amazing! It did not really feel like a zoo at all, most the animals were not caged, and many displays had an open range feel! In most cases there was a mote separating the animals from the visitors. Being very happy snappy tourists we took loads of photos and spent about 5 hours there and still did not see everything. The zoo is situated on land that juts out into a bay. It feels as though your on an island and there is a ferry that takes you around to the other side of the zoo. The place is so big that there is a shuttle bus to take you place to place. We decided to challenge ourselves and walk it out.
After a big day with the animals we took the RMT to Orchard Street
On Saturday we had great plans to walk to the Botanical gardens but found ourselves running out of time even though we had walked for ages and were so close to the gardens. We had to turn around as we had an overnight train to catch at 10 that night.
Following a lead that was given to us by Kailey's uncle Dick, we decided to train it to newton Circus for dinner at the hawkers center! This place is an out door area with tons of vendors selling seafood and satay sticks along with other tasty treats. We smashed down some satay sticks and a cold Asahi before grabbing our bags to head to our Kuala Lumpur train. As we were leaving we met this character who claimed to be making a gangster movie about himself and was looking to hire Russel Crow for one of the roles. He claimed to be the first Canadian gangster to be extradited to the States. As he made our ears bleed with his "interesting" claims he proceeded to cook a thick steak on the microwave. We had to leave as Kailey was allergic to bull$@*# so we set off to catch the overnighter.
The train was exciting, crazy to train it to another country, think I ( Ethan) Might have been the only one on the train that was that pumped about it though. We met see really nice locals from Malaysia and shared our story with them. They gave us some tips and direction for when we arrived. Our sleep was often broken by people pulling back the curtain and looking in but we managed to get some shut eye before we reached KL.
We found our way to our hostel, had some more amazing toast and peanut butter and a long shower! We are excited to see what this next day of adventures has in store! Love to you all!!
Ethan and Kailey! Xx
