Salt Lake City is the capital of Utah and the center of the Mormon community. We stay at Motel 6 for the night, a typical cosy American motel where Hispanics seem to be regular visitors. After a late dinner in a typical American restaurant, everybody is pleased to catch up some sleep.
Before hitting the road to Capitol Reef NP on this Sunday morning, we make a quick visit to Temple Square which is the gathering place for the Mormons in Salt Lake City. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir broadcasts on radio stations worldwide every Sunday morning and we take advantage of the opportunity to visit the new Mormon conference building where the choir is performing. The white and black dressed choir members in front of the huge and impressive tabernacle give a remarkable performance, but I do not feel persuaded to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We move on to downtown Salt Lake City for buying food and supplies. at the supermarket and outdoor shop 'The Rei'. We are ready to leave Salt Lake City behind us. Now the journey begins.
