The Bay of Islands is one of the major attractions in the northern part of New Zealand. The many islands in the turquoise water make up the beautiful coastal scenery. I spend a day in the bay, hopefully to see and swim with dolphins. It takes some time to spot a group of 10 to 15 common dolphins. It is amazing to see them in their natural environment, in the open sea. And then we can jump in the water ourselves. See them swimming underneath and besides you is really fun. In the water you can actually hear their sounds! But this group of dolphins was not really socializing with all the strange creatures in the water (they are probably sick of seeing people), so it was difficult to catch up with them (yes, they do swim a lot faster). But it was a really cool experience.
I uploaded some pics and a short movie of the dolphins.
