I could tell you about the beachside small town of Byron Bay. I could tell you that it is famed wordwide for its surfing beaches, scuba diving, rural beauty and a laid back lifestyle. But is that the reason we went to Byron? Do you want to hear the truth? Because we heard from Nimbin.

Nimbin is an alternative lifestyle town, nearby Byron Bay, which is originally populated by people dropping out. The town has some shops and cafes that play off the alternative, hippie image and is very much open not only for tourism but also happy herbs

Well, we joined a Nimbin Daytour in a oldschool hippie van with psychedelic colours and rocking soundtracks. After stopping off at a secret swimming hole surrounded by beautiful waterfalls with breath-taking views and lush rainforest, we explored the colourful shops and cafes in Nimbin Town. Then, we can't remember the rest of the day. - No, just kidding, who do you think we are?

We had an awesome time on the rest of the day which we swore not to forget. First, we met two Aussies and we learnt from on of them that his dad was an Aborigine, yet he was snow white and had blond, curly hair. He moved away from Tasmania and decided to plant some happy herbs with his girlfriend in Nimbin. Okay. Then, at an Aussie BBQ, we accidently ate the veggie patties of an vegetarian and kept silent. Ups. Last but not least, the bus ride back to Byran Bay in that hippie van. Our laid back South African of driver turned on the musik that up that we could't understand our own words, and we sped through the windy roads that we wondered if we had to enjoy the ride or pray that nothing would happen. We decided on the former and felt like being in a one of the highschool movies from the 60s. Girls sitting next to the wide open windows, the boys next to the aile with their arms around their girls and in total 30 something or more like-minded travellers banging their heads simultaneously to the rocking beats. Just awesome. We imagined how our trip would have been liked if we had experienced it through these eyes. LOL. Oh, happy day! It made us feel so young again. :)

P.S.: Dear M&T and also dear HS, doesn't that remind you of some good times? So, you will smile on our story, won't you? :p
