The day started off great! We got up, ate breakfast of eggs, Swedish sandwiches and coffee and then did the final packing. Not to bad-only one extra bag full of Hebron glass that I had bought. :-)

I found a taxi to take us to Damascus Gate so we could catch the bus but he offered to take us to the border for 250NIS and that was for all of us. It was a nice air conditioned Mercedes Benz van and it was very comfy not to have to change several times. HIs name was Davic and I would hire him again when going to Jerusalem!

We were at the border by 9:00am and moved through the exit tax area(108NIS per person please) and on to clear customs by 9:30. Unfortunately, we missed the first bus and then had to wait almost 40 minutes for the bus to leave so we didn't get back to Jordan until 11:30ish. Why does it take so long??? Rhetorical question, I know. Duty Free was hit for the wine and ended up with a free bottle as the machines weren't working and the cashier didn't know how to make change so that was lucky for us! Next up-Amman!

Once we got back into Amman, we dumped our luggage and goodies and put in a load of laundry in the apartment and went to lunch. We ate at Lebnani House on Walking Mall of Swefieh. On the menu was mint lemon juice and chicken shish tawouk sandwiches with pickles and fries. I was full but needed coffee-that could wait till my house.

Back after lunch, we repacked our bags and made coffee as the next adventure was going to begin-Petra! We left about 2:30 for the drive down the fast highway(there are only 3 major highways here) so we could get there before the sun set. It was a gorgeous drive down as the landscape changes from hilly, to desert, and then to a gorge like scene. All of our heads were on a swivel for this drive!

We checked into the Crown Plaza around 5ish, got our room and dropped off our stuff. It was time to explore the area so we drove down a little way to some shops. I found a Jordanian cookbook, some postcards, and 2 stitched wall hangings. Mom wanted to see the sun set so we went back to the hotel to watch it from the pool area-it was amazing! From there, we met back in the lobby with the cameras, postcards, and some energy to people watch for a while. There was a group from Sweden by us so Mom talked to them, I downloaded pictures, and Dad people watched. We all had a good time!

Dinner was burgers in the lobby and more people watching! Bedtime came soon as we were all really tired from the bus ride and the car ride down.
