Well, nine weeks of school are almost in the bag! I can't believe how fast the time has gone and the amount of work my students have done. My Ancient Civ kids have been presenting their Sumerian artifacts they researched and created. I had fun listening to them and I hope they had fun doing the project. There was only one causuality in the 2 classes of a Ziggurat. Next will be a "museum" of their work during conferences on Oct. 21. I will say that it is very refreshing to only have about 4 failing students out of the 108 that I see!

Grades are due on Wednesday at 8am, then teach my Am. History kids, and then it is off to learn how to read the MAP tests our kids took. That will last about 3 hours and a sub in my room with my Ancient Civ class. Many of the kids have been pounding out the work on top of fasting and sports-I am sure that many are ready for the Eid break and the end of Ramadan. The officical holiday will be Oct. 13-15 but since our schedule was already booked till the 16th-we still get the extra day off. Yippeee!

I know that my family has been busy packing up the long list I sent as I got a phone call at 6am this morning! It didn't take much to figure out who was calling me and about what. :-) I can hardly wait for the goodies and Kia to arrive on Friday evening. A chunk of the time has been organized-Amman and the area, Jerash, Mataba & Mt. Nebo, the Dead Sea, Petra, of course going to school, and then a party next Thrusday night along with my neighbor Melissa. Her mom and aunt are arriving from Canada on Wednesday and her son Tristan came today from Saudi so it's family time all the way around!

There were also apartment requests that I had put in for and today I came home to them being done! There is now a working fan and light on my stove, my wall hanging brackets are hung(no level around I guess), light bulbs changed, and my bare light buld now has a covering on it. Last week was my car for an oil change, fluid check and tires as I will be traveling during the Eid break-all done! Now it just needs a car wash and I think the car wash guy comes tomorrow. He's new and I haven't figured out his schedule yet.

To celebrate my grades being done, it was off to Starbucks for a Date Frapp-what a treat! Anita and I went all the way to Abdoun as our Starbucks wasn't open yet at 7:30pm and we were just a little impatient. :-) Imagine that.
Now it is time to do a little cross stitch and then to bed.

Have a good week!
Kirsten
