Wednesday, we woke up to freezing temperatures, -16C or 2F! But we decided that we would venture out later in the afternoon after it warmed up a bit. The night before started with freezing rain making the snow crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. LOL

We took the bus to Fort Edmonton situated right along the river valley. It was really cool to see such a large expanse of undeveloped park in the middle of the city. Granted, the fort itself was closed for the season, but the nature center was opened.

We trekked about 1/2 mile from the bus stop to the nature center and the nature trails. Along the way, we saw a bee hive attached to a tree! We also saw several magpie birds and several other native birds. There were some squirrels and coyote tracks. We were told that the coyote was spotted the day before, but we didn't see him while we were on the trials.

It was so cool to be walking along the river valley through the snow getting to see the river from along the bluffs. Sean and I made snow angels and Joe walked on the frozen pond near the nature center. On the way back to the bus stop, flurries started falling which was pretty cool to see.

After we returned to the hotel, Carrie, Chris, and Joe went ice skating. My legs were so sore that I couldn't even entertain the thought of skating. It was a great day though!
