Paris was everything we thought it would be - and then a little bit more.

When we first got to the city - which is huge - we drove straight to the Louvre for our tour. People everywhere but during the tour we still got to see the main things - the glass pyramid, the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo and much, much more. The guide told us that to see yhe entire museum properly you would need a month.  There are ten miles of corridors!!!! After being totally enthralled, we headed to the hotel ,which was five minutes from the Eiffel tour.
Standing and looking at the tower from anywhere in the city, just does not look real! We had to keep pinching ourselves to believe that we were really looking atthe REAL thing. Tomorrow we get to up the tower! A dinner to a truly French restaurant, and a drive around the city to see it at night (including the tower) finished off the first day.

The next morning we were on the bus for a drive to the other sights in the city. Just before noon we went up the Eiffel tower tot the second level. With a reservation made by Globus, it meant we bypassed the 4 hour line-up of other people doing the same thing. I don't think the second level is as high as the Calgary tower but then you aren't looking at downtown Calgary either.

After a quick croissant we boarded the bus for our trip to the Palais de Versaille - the little hunting lodge of King Louis.  Again with reservation in hand we got in and started touring (past the 1000 people waiting) into the other 1000 already in!  It was beautiful, but soooo crowded it detracted from the tour.  Or it could have been that we were just tired of seeing opulent castles. The gardens were beautiful, and not nearly as crowded.
Back to the hotel for a short rest then off to a little cabaret to end the tour - called The Moulin Rouge. Some nudity, but tastefully done (Cheryl made me say that).

The next morning we said good-by to our driver Franco and boarded the Eurostar train back to London. We have a head full of memories, a memory card full of pictures and some new friends. With a week to re-charge our batteries it will be a welcome rest.

Thanks for reading along with us!
