We were so looking forward to cabaret night here at the Almalfra Entertainment Lounge so were a little disappointed when the build up to tonight revealed ............................................an Elvis impersonator .........that looked nothing like Elvis .............and had an ego even bigger........................YuK Yuk YUk!!!
However we did have a dance to 'Love Me Tender' so we suppose it was worth it.
The next night's entertainment was Quiz Night and we sat with the same people who we met last week - lovely people.. Agnes and Peter, Brenda and Jim. It was the 'Best Christmas hat' competition as well and we were amazed at the creativeness of some of these. A few pictures here to show the effort people made
The next day we decided to explore Albir, next to Benidorm...............not much to say really, it was a cloudy day and the promenade was quite deserted, - it was not at all inspiring.
The following day we went to Calp, further north past Altea....not much to say here either really - the weather was quite pleasant but the promenade was almost deserted as yesterday and it was not very inspiring. The recession is certainly biting here!!The one saving grace about Calp was the sight of numerous flamingoes on a lake almost in the centre. Most were feeding but we did see 3 in flight and captured one on film.
On the way home we stopped at Altea, one of our most favourite places along this coast line and we were not disappointed here. a comfortable chair some tapas and a glass of wine in the sunshine and we realised why we had come here. It's lovely.
We looked at a campsite here 'Cap Blanche' as a possible venue for next year , It looked welcoming with a cafe restaurant right on the front and the convenience of being close to the sea without having to drive anywhere. So it is high on our list for our trip for next year.
