Where I stayed
A short distance away from our campsite and indeed closer than Benidorm is Altea. It is a lively bustling town, a pleasant surprize after Benidorm to find a town of character and old charm.
There are whitewashed buildings and cobbled streets in the old town leading up to the blue domed church.
A busy Town Hall square lined with restaurants and the Christmas decorations are tastefully done to give it a festive air.
We visited the market to buy fresh fish and steak and a juicer for our fresh Valencian oranges.
The beachfront had a lovely promenade and many comfortable cafes in which to enjoy a cup of coffee and a cognac, well at 2.40 Euros who wouldn't?
The sun is shining brightly and we are happier to be here. There is such a choice of shoreside bars it definitely deserves another visit. I adored the cafe we chose which was also an art gallery and the wicker chairs were draped with white lace pillows and pretty throws so comfortable (obviously a woman's touch here). I 've included lots of pictures of the inside which was also very cozy with lots of comfortable sofas and some stunning pictures. I can imagine the buzz here in the evening, perhaps we will venture out for an evening meal while we are here. There's even a tram here which could entice us to leave the car behind and have a really good night out.
Apparently the marina is an attractive area too which calls for another visit soon.
