Motoring on
Day 5 We have now covered over 1500 miles and are in Caceres close to the Portuguese border. We're stopping here two nights so we can rest up and explore this city. We have driven through dense fog all day but glimpses of sunshine have kept us in good spirits for what lies ahead.
The most impressive thing has been the roads, new motorways, bridges, tunnels and viaducts all the way, although we suspect this is all Euro money that has paid for it and could be why we are in trouble now!!!! Funny how we are struggling to get our own roads to cope with the all the traffic in Britain and here these wonderful engineering feats seem to be in the middle of nowhere with hardly any traffic on them .Whoever said that the Eurozone is a level playing field - we think not!!!
Rolling hills and barren landscape, the fog didn't help our impression of this western side of Spain which is rather bleak. Vitorria Gazteiz, Burgos, don't mention Carrion de les Condes (the worst campsite we have ever stayed on!) Salamanca and now Caceres. We have met a couple Eddie and Jean who have been to the Albufeira rally 3 times and really enjoyed it so we shall meet them there in a couple of days.
We are really looking forward to it.
