Where I stayed
Lac du Lit du Roi

Our new spot is fantastic; right on the shores of Lac du Lit du Roi; a small lake near Lac de Bourget which is the largest natural lake in France. We have excellent views across the water which is well populated with swans and ducks that like to give us a fly by every now and then. Our pitch slopes down to the lake; ideal for launching the canoe; we've been out already to test the waters and have seven days of canoeing ahead; perfect.

It was lovely last night to be able to eat outside watching the birdlife in mellow fading rays of the day’s sunshine. We have to make the best of it as the mornings are very misty up to about twelve. Lots to explore around here while we are here; Chambery, the old capital of the area when it belonged to Italy, Aix le Bains where there are apparently some thermal baths; the big lake , Lac de Bourget where we may get a boat trip and many lovely little villages to discover.

We shall make the most of it as it is homeward bound after this stay.
