Mount Cook
As we approached Aoraki Park a mist decended moving on to rain, rain and more rain. It steadily and frequently downpoured for the rest of the evening and throughout the night, so we saw little of Mount Cook, however the Hotel Hermitage has a small cinema where you can watch a marvellous 3D film on Mount Cook which takes you closer to the summit than you could possibly get unless your name was Sir Edmund Hillary. There was a fantastic tribute film to him in the form of a biographical account of his life and work with footage from many films taken throughout his life. He truly was a remarkable man and did such a lot for the Nepalese people in his lifetime. As a bonus we had three films on the digital planetarium dome about space travel, infinity and black holes so we were well entertained and educated while it poured with rain outside. We camped overnight in the conservation park under the shadow of a shrouded Mount Cook and cosily ate Rogan Josh and consumed two bottles of red wine over a game of cards
