This was our last 3 day weekend before all freedom is lost at site!!!! We decided to hire a car and drive to a different place each day but stay in Brisbane in the evenings as its really hard to find hotel for one night in Australia, they all seem to have minimum night stays.

Friday we wanted to use our theme park season pass again to get our moneys worth so we made a packed lunch and drove to Dream World again.  As theme parks don't seem to be very busy when its not the summer holidays we went on all the good fast rides and then had our picnic and went into the water park.  It was a lot of fun and there were lots of good rides and a wave pool!!! We even had time to have a nap on the sun loungers in the shade!!!! nice and relaxing!!

On the way back to Brisbane we stopped at a big shopping centre as Paul wanted to buy a laptop for site and i bought an underwater camera.  We discovered that you can haggle on the price here, so the camera i wanted was $250 in the first shop, $200 in the next one and then in the third one we negotiated it to $135!!!!! bargain!!  Paul also did some good haggling on his laptop too!!

Saturday we packed up lunch again and we drove to Mt Tambourine which is an old volcano.  We went to the Skywalk which is a metal walkway through the tree tops of the rainforest, it was very pretty but a bit wobbly!!!! We also spotted a curly tree which we have named the Queensland Lesser Spotted Corkscrew tree.
We did a hike through the rainforest afterwards which led to a huge waterfall which was really pretty.  No leeches this time...just mud!!!!

After the hike we went to the little town and parked up, just as we noticed there was a no parking sign where we had parked a big truck came by and took off our wing mirror....thankfully we had full coverage so it didn't cost us anything but was a pain to drive without it!!!
We stopped at a fudge shop and of course as soon as we had a sample we had to buy some!!!!! and we had a walk around the brewery and distillery....nice but super expensive!!!

Saturday evening was a wild goose chase around town looking for some free internet.  Mcdonalds advertises that it has it so we drove out of the city and after dinner at turkish place which was tasty and even included a belly dancer, we found a Maccas (thats what its called here) and were disappointed to find that the signal was useless and we couldn't get online!!! They need to get with the 21st century with the internet here...its terrible!!!

Sunday we booked a snorkeling and scuba dive trip at Wave break island near Surfers Paradise.  It was quite a windy day but the sun was out. As I'm not allowed to scuba dive here because of my asthma i snorkeled and Paul did a dive.  The guys taking us out were really funny.  They drove us in the boat to a little island about 20 mins away which had a stone spit into the sea. They told us to go and get a rock from the shore and while we are snorkeling you bash off some of the barnacles and all the fish will come around you to get the food!!  The fish were super greedy....all you had to do was tap a rock and they all came swimming over.  They got really close and were very cool colours.  The shiny blue and black ones and the yellow and black were my favorites!!!  Needless to say the new underwater camera came in very handy!!!!
After the trip we went to the local Life Saving club for some food, it was a strange place...half of it was a restaurant and the other half was full of slot machines, and then a band were setting up but luckily we got our food and were out of there because it wasn't a big place and they looked like a noisy band!!!!
I found a tasty looking drink - vodka, water and lime!!! need to try that i think
After yet another nap on the beach we headed back to Brizzy to prepare for our last week of work arghhhhhhh!!!
