Where I stayed
Glaciers National Park
Our first encounter with the inhabitants of this National Park was soon after our arrival. A first short hike into the mossy rainforest introduced us to a small rodent that looks like the younger brother of a marmot. It is called pica (or conie). We had an early sleep and got up early for a planned six hour hike all the way up to the glaciers on 2100 m. The day started grey and rainy and our ambitious route was aprubtly ended when it started to snow. A strong fog came up and forced us to turn around. Nevertheless it was an unforgettable hike along the rainforest and the alpine
meadows.
