The island of Morro de Sao Paulo, just two hours off shore of Salvador is truely a paradise!
A cute little village with nice shops and restaurants and a lot of beautyful beaches, with almost Caribean touch... and no cars!

So Friday afternoon I took the fast boat from Salvador to the island, where I ran into Helen (from the trekking tour) almost instantly, which was really nice since we went out for dinner together and went to stay in the same hostel.

Then Saturday I toured the beaches with a couple of people from our hostel, which was just so nice, especially because the weather was fantastic. We went from beach to beach, stopped for sunbathing and swimming in the natural pools and for fresh fruit juices. What a wonderful way to pass the day!
For sunset we went to the fort, where we enjoyed the sun going down over the bay and watched some dolphins coming close to the shore.
In the evening there was a beachparty with livemusic and a lot of Caipirinha. It was actually quite cool, but I have to say the brazilian men were really giving us a hard time... no way to dance alone or just stand there with a drink... they were just all over the place, so in the end I gave up and went home because I could not be bothered any more, haha.

Sunday then I went with two friends to discover the inner parts of the island, looking for a waterfall, which we never found anyway. Instead we found ourselves on yet another beautiful beach, far from the tourists and therefore really calm. Next to the rocks, there were some mud pools we heared about earlier, so we gave our skin a treat an covered ourselves in mud. What a fun! Looking like little pigs we dried on the beach and then washed the dry clay off before we went to the next town to catch a boat back. Lucky as we were there was a streetparty going on there! It`s so cool how people here enjoy dancing so much, everybody, no matter what age, was up on their feet dancing.

Sadly Monday we were not so lucky with the weather... it was raining all day long. So we spend the day at the hostel, reading and sleeping, which after all wasn`t a bad day at all.

Today me and Karin went off to Salvador again, but instead of taking the fast boat, we decided that we had enough time to go on the long and cheap route, wich combined quite some boat and bus trips, and was really a bit adventurous, but very funny.
So now back in Salvador but just to take the plane back to Rio in the middle of the night, so somehow I`ll have to manage to stay awake, but since there is another streetparty going on, I guess that won`t be a problem.
