Sunday 1st of August: Finally arriving in Christchurch and being picked up by Stan.
Beautiful spring weather, which I totally did not expect and which shouldn't be staying for too long, because 2 hours later, approaching the mountains we found ourselves in the worst rain and wind, almost blowing us off the street!
Thank God the Hostel was nice and warm and the next morning I awoke to a beautiful mountain view from our window!
So we took the Hooker Valley Track up to the glacier and the lake, crossing the wild river on wobbly bridges. Part of the track was so badly flooded with the rain, Stan had to carry me :-)
Sadly it was so cloudy we could not see the peak of Mount Cook when we arrived at the lake, but the next morning the sun was shining again so we did get to see it from the lookout.
On the way to Wanaka then we drove along beautiful Lake Pukaki.

Hi Katti,
geniale Bilder, das sieht ja noch viel schöner und klarer aus, als bei mir im "Sommer". Auch der NZ Winter kann also Vorteile haben. Wünsch dir noch ne geile Zeit.
