After all the excitement of our previous evening we were not up for the 7.45 meeting time for our mekong tour but we made it, we also had 6am wake up calls the following 2days of the tour. we joined on the tour with Sune and Katrine.

the forst day we saw a  small floating market, river side homes and general mekong riverness. another stop showed us how they make coconut sweets, popped rice, honey farm and honey tea, rice paper making and other stuff we then had one of the worst lunches ever - inclusive in the tour cost and listened to traditional music. THis involves the telling of stories through song and often the singers get very emotionally into it. We were taken to our hotel, finding our way to the river side market we had some street vendor food - noodles and kebab style meat and spring roles. We found the best donut shop ever, little mini donuts and cakes so you can be greedy and try a few - amazing!

the following day we were up at 6am to get so the floating market early doors. was interesting seeing people selling their fruit and vegetables from their floating homes, they have a big stick which they hang their products from so you know what they are selling.we visited a fruit farm and got to try a selection. In the evening we had a similar street vendor dinner, but found that we were surrounded by rats which the vietnamese kids seemed to think was cute... me... not so much. We headed back to hotel for wine and card games, joined by a vietnamese tuk tuk driver who had no idea what he was doing but bless he tried.
the final day we were in rowing boats - this little lady rowed us for abiout 40mins bless her, Louise and I tried to help for a little while but its tough in the heat, i was sweating buckets before I started the physical activity. we rowed past 'floating houses' - they look pretty sturdy but are in the middle of the river, one we visited was a fish farm, i think he said there was40,000 fish below this one house, they were pretty well packed in there. our tour finished with a slow boat down the mekong into cambodia which was briliant, some great sites, the easiest boarder crossing ever too.
