Sunday, June 29, 2008

We have just agreed that this Sunday, Sunday 29 June 2008, has un-intentionally turned out to be the best Sunday we've experienced in years!! (My last best Sunday, that I can recall, was sitting with my Sister's, Cousin's and Gran watching The Walton's whilst eating Gran's freshly baked Tichen Lap or Welsh cakes!
Anyhoo, We woke up with full intentions of going for a Sunday Roast. Mainly because, we didn't know what else to do and we know it's cheap in Tin Billy's (a backpacker's hostel, up the road), but also because we need to get our 5 fruit and veg, a "Week" in!!!.....oh and not forgetting I've been craving gravy since God knows when!!
We didn't get to have the mouth watering beef with Yorkshire pud, or chicken with sage & onion stuffing (my mouth is watering..I'm serious!). We yet again, took the sensible, money saving option by calling into the supermarket to buy water, nibbles & fruit. We headed to the River to catch a Citycat ferry to Southbank! Not Southbank as in the Vetch or the Liberty Stadium(I think that exists!), but to a place that made Brisbane extra special to us today! (this memory will live as long as my last one!) We crossed the water from Eagle St. to Southbank. We found a quiet spot to lay our Welsh towels (compliments of Missy Reed! Cheer's babe!), out of of the lime light, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, a beautiful albeit man-made beach. It has a completely different feel to the place. It was surrounded with live bands, funky street markets and glorious sunshine! We spent the day relaxing and reading our books with sneaky, cheeky glances every other chapter! The silence was not awkward at all, the smiles made up for it! (cant get my head around 2 people being on "top of" eachother for this amount of time!) Hee Hee..cringe!!
Anyway, we were having an amazing time. We sat there chilling out from 12 Midday- 4.30pm. Towards the end of the day, a confused guy passed me, with a child swinging from under his arm and said to me " You must be a Pommy right? It's bloody freezing!!" At first, I looked at him with utter confusion ..Uh?...As he walked away ....Phill said " any excuse to speak to a bird in a bikini. eh..!!" Then it dawned on us that our patch, was the only 5.4ft (my height) diameter area, the sun was still beaming down on!! I put my book down and sat up to find everyone...I mean everyone.. ..wrapped up in hoodies, scarf's and Ugg boots!! There I am laying flat out, sucking in my stomach (as you do...), in the circle of sun, wearing nothing but a bikini and smile!! Totally oblivious to the fact that the sun went down hours ago!!! I felt like a Top Twonk!!!!! (Childproof!!)
After discovering that there was a lot more to do in Southbank than read books with romantic glimpses, we caught the Citycat back to town. We got lost and desperately seeked a food joint that wasn't charging $40 each for steak or Moreton Bay Bugs (whatever they are?) with King Prawns. Yes, we managed to get lost......yet again!
We're home safe now and due to the fact that we can't afford to go on the pop, once again, we have spent tonight listening to music and playing computer games on our laptop!!
We need jobs.......tomorrow's the day to find work!
Bye for now xxx love ya, ya cheeky so and so's...xxxxx
