Morning all from a very humid and cloudy Bangkok.

The view from the city is just amazing.  I try to keep quiet and not wake Shelley... we really haven't slept for that long... by the time I put the kettle on Shelley stirs and we have a good ol cuppa before getting ready for the day.

We start with breakfast and all I can say is OMG.... the restaurant is huge and the choice unbelievable... you can have things made for you by the chefs... or cereal, pancakes, waffles, yoghurt's, fruit compotes, pastries, cooked meats, fresh fruit.... I could go on and on the menu is BIG!

We are escorted to our table and served juice and coffee... amazing!!! You could spend hours in this room and still not try everything!!

Feeling full we get ready for the day.... starting with a shower... wow this is the most powerful shower I have ever been in and the water feels like a massage!!!   Time to explore.

At the base of the hotel are a number of shops and spas, and to start the day Shelley has a fish pedicure, something she has always wanted to try!  Despite pleas to join her... there is no way in this world I'm putting my feet in there... not after the experience of doing... well attempting to do it back home (thanks Sis!)  Feet all smooth and fish feasted, we make our way to the front of the hotel and the heavens open so we grab a taxi and and head to a nearby shopping complex.

This complex is one of the biggest shopping centers in Asia. Opened on December 9, 2005, it includes a wide range of specialty stores and restaurants as well as a multiplex movie theater (consisted of 15 large size theaters with one of the them having the biggest screen and seating capacity in Asia) and the Siam Ocean World (Underwater world) aquarium (the largest aquarium in South East Asia) and an exhibition hall and the Thai Art Gallery and also an opera concert hall. It also has a large bowling alley and karaoke center.

Like any other day out Shelley and I experience... we start the day with some beauty needs... yes its that time again for threading!!  I told Shelley about the company I visited in Singapore and they have a salon here.... this is probably the best place I have ever had my eyebrows threaded in.. the time she took was incredible.... I did think at one point would I have anything left... threaded, touched up with tweezers and some scissors!!!  Shelley was just as amazed as I and despite our redness we are happy bunnies!!!

We then think a coffee is needed and just so happen to stop at a place where afternoon tea was being served... mini cakes, sandwiches and pies.. well it would be rude not too!

Feeling full we continue looking at the vast amount of shops.

Siam Paragon has become since its opening the place to be for Thailand's upper class, tourists, and locals who come to be seen and to see what Thailand has to offer. Even showcasing one or two cars over $300,000 each, and some pushing a million dollars inside the mall!!  We fit right in!!!

Obviously one of the main reasons for our little shop is for shoes.... I don't own a pair and Shelley also needs some.... and WE have to have some for the hotel!!

We end up walking around for hours before taking a tuk tuk to the other side of the city, a tuk-tuk is a three wheel motorised taxi.  There are no meters, and trip costs are negotiated in advance. Well done Shell.... her bartering skills are impressive. Bangkok fares have risen to nearly equal normal taxis due to uninformed foreigners willing to pay the asking price, but leaves passengers more exposed to environmental pollution than taxis. The solid roof is so low that the tuk-tuk is a difficult touring vehicle. Today few locals take one unless they are burdened with packages but its a fab tourist thing to do!!!

Bangkok is definitely getting ready for the floods which have hit Thailand and surrounding areas, although there sandbags are running low its a common sight to see them piled outside shops... some have even built brick walls!! Lets hope we don't experience it!

We eventually both purchase some shoes!!!  Its already 8pm and we've been on the road for 9 hours... our feet are starting to ache... we head to an Italian restaurant for dinner and then head back to the hotel stopping off for a rather large bottle of Gin!!!  Back in our suite we both lay down and have decided we are too tired to venture to the bar....  even though we now have the shoes!!

Back at our suite our room has been serviced... our beds turned down, slippers placed on a mat in between our beds, our toiletries have been set up neat and tidy on mats too... total luxury! We are even left a card informing us of the weather forecast tomorrow!!

Its been a long day following a night short of sleep... but a fab day in Bangkok!
