Well the time has come for me to say farewell to Singapore... if only for a short while.

Singapore has been quite the surprise, its a beautiful country with so many nice people!  Its clean..very clean, friendly and offers culture, history, relaxation and more.

Again I have been lucky meeting some great people but its time to move on... if I don't I'll be here until I fly back to the UK!!!

I pack my last few things, have coffee and breakfast before departing for the airport.  The systems here is fab and so I decide to take the train and arrive at Changi airport.  I remember all those months ago my travel agent Graham telling me that Singapore airport is amazing and how true that is.

Where do I begin....  arriving at the terminal I cant see my flight time or number.... hmmm should I be worried? I ask the information desk and she informs me I'm at the right place and I need to check in. So I check my bag in... hmmm its gone up to 25kg... not sure how that happened!!!  It definitely feels much heavier.... and I thought I packed well!!!  Maybe I should wear a pair of shoes instead of flip flops!! Who knows why its bursting to capacity?!!!  Will need to look at this later!!

I wonder around the airport... you can spend days here... seriously its huge!  It has everything from a butterfly garden, rooftop swimming pool with Jacuzzi, a gym, beds so you can relax and up teen shops, restaurants, bars, beauty salons and massage... it truly is an experience and the next time I'm there I definitely arrive early to make use of the facilities.  It has a first class feel about it and the customer service is fantastic

So I have my boarding ticket which tells my the gate and time.... as I make my way there it has another destination.... hmmmm best check my details... no all correct... that gate and time have been changed and we are now departing 45 minutes later and the flight is about 1 hour 10 minutes.

The flight is half empty and I have the row to myself which is nice... by the time I take my book out its time to put it away... the flight has actually taken 30 minutes!!!  From Singapore to Malaysia.

I arrive to more humidity and walk through the grounds before making it to arrivals... strange being out there with all the planes!! Anyway it takes about 45 minutes (my longest time yet) to make my way through customs and now find myself in Kuala Lumpur.

Kuala Lumpur is the capital and the second largest city in Malaysia by population.  the city has played host to many international sporting, political and cultural events including the 1998 Commonwealth Games and the Formula One World Championship. In addition, Kuala Lumpur is home to the tallest twin buildings in the world, the Petronas Twin Towers, which have become an iconic symbol of Malaysia's futuristic developments.

I take a taxi to my hotel which is far from luxury... I knew this when I booked it... its a 3 star and as long as its clean I don't mind.  I'm dropped off and it looks OK... I'm shown my room and the first thing that hits me is the smell... its musty... there is also no window which seems to be a common thing in Asia... cheaper rooms are available because of the lack of window!!! This I can't deal with and it was never mentioned and so I'm back to reception saying that there is a smell and no window... without any fuss I am given another room... which thankfully is better and at least I can see the outside world... the other room was like a prison cell!!  Not one that I want to experience.

This trip has cost me next to nothing and definitely worth the little effort it has taken to get here!!I immediately pop into the town to see what's going on.  I have to say my heart is still in Singapore to name but one of the most amazing countries I have visited.  Here so far appears very dirty.. not the hotel but the streets and the feel is somewhat different... now it could be because I felt so comfortable in Singapore or that I'm excited that in just a few days I'll be flying to Thailand and see my best camping buddy Shelley...either way I'm going to keep an open mind of Malaysia!!

The buildings here are just amazing, the architecture is stunning...especially as the night draws in the buildings come alive... and the first and most famous buildings I set my eyes on.. are the Petronas towers. They are skyscrapers and twin towers and according to the CTBUH's official definition and ranking, they were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 until surpassed by Taipei 101, but remain the tallest twin buildings in the world.

The building is the landmark of Kuala Lumpur with nearby Kuala Lumpur Tower. The Petronas Towers were the tallest buildings in the world for six years, until Taipei 101 was completed in 2004. The height of the towers is measured to the top of their structural components such as spires, but do not include antennas. Spires are considered actual integral parts of the architectural design of buildings, to which changes would substantially change the appearance and design of the building, whereas antennas may be added or removed without such consequences.

They look amazing at night and I cant imagine they have the same magical feeling during the day but we will see!   Within the towers not only are there 88 floors of workforce but they is also a huge mall set on 5 levels and again include all the normal or familiar shops that I'm used too!Really anyone thinking of travelling to Asia, take an empty suitcase, shopping is cheap!!!

I have a wander but really not feeling the shopping so I opt to have dinner at a Mexican which was
just heaven and so needed!!  I come back to the hotel and I'm too tired to do anything other than a phone call and a quick check of messages....my eyes are closing...

Welcome to Kuala Lumpur...until tomorrow..
