Where I stayed
Waking up I decide to sort out my packing and try and make it look smaller... hmmm doesn't work... oh well time for breakfast...
Malorie has made enquires for the post office and as I had mentioned that it was something I also wanted to do I tagged along... having just packed it was time to unpack and sort out those last few winter bits and bobs as well as some other stuff that although not heavy it takes up room.. the post office is busy with locals and they have no idea of queuing... which is frustrating... having waited and waited the guy eventually acknowledges us only to say we need to go to the shop and get a box first.... if only he had told us earlier!!!
We make our way to the shop and have to buy two boxes! Back again and we are eventually served and although Malorie decides not to post I carry on and sorted it out... the whole thing took over 1.5 hours.. but its done and will be in the UK in one week!!! Room for some shopping... when the lovely Shelly and I meet up...
I walk back to the hotel to then repack before meeting Carmen and Dara where we walk into town and bump into Tamara who joins us for lunch. We visit an organic cafe which is peaceful and ethical ...with green light colour this cafe seems really nice and natural...the cool thing is they sell organic stuffs from ice cream to soap to massage oils to lip balm to herbal tea to incense. This cafe is small and cozy especially when you walk to the back of this cafe..you will find cozy place overlooking to the river with lotus pond...a serene place and the food is fab!
Walking back ready for 2pm and our departure to Kinatmini which is about a 2 hour drive away.
Kintamani is a highland area in the north of East Bali. The area of north-eastern Bali at the Mount Batur caldera, and which encompasses Penelokan, Toya Bungkah, Batur and Kintamani villages, is known widely as just Kintamani
You are high in the mountains of Bali here and the temperature is about 15 degrees cooler than down on the coast, and even more so at night. It is a welcome feeling though, Lovina is HOT HOT HOT.
On arrival we check in and myself and Carmen are sharing again which is nice. We decide to venture into town and are joined by Valentina, Christina and Tamara. There are a number of men, women and children ready to pounce selling everything from postcards, bangles, fruit and pictures... this is like nothing anyone of us has experienced yet... these people are full on..grabbing your arms and do not let up!! The three girls turn back to the hotel after a while leaving Carmen and I to face the music.... both of us make purchases and then an extra one just to get rid of them! Its exhausting!
We head back to the hotel Lakeview which is a family hotel and restaurant on the crater-rim of the ancient Mount Batur caldera
Carmen, Valentina and myself then sit on the veranda overlooking the Volcano and lake and join Dara where we have coffee and watch the sunset... the view is inspiring and the sunrise over the lake is stunning. You can easily sit out at night under the stars, enjoying the cool air and the twinkling lights from the lakeside far below.
Tonight we have a group dinner and although the service is slow, the food is good if not a bit pricey... its then back to the room, updating the blog... its about 11pm and we are getting up at 3am!!! Read on to see why.....
