Elvina and I woke this morning and ventured into town, we found information on Kelly Tarlton which opened in 1985, the original Underwater World was the vision of Kelly Tarlton - an extraordinary Kiwi adventurer, diver, explorer and inventor, who wanted to share his love of the ocean with others.

The Antarctic Encounter is home to New Zealand’s only sub-antarctic penguins, offering a rare opportunity to see the magnificent birds up close in their icy domain. A unique snowcat ride brings you within arms length of the 80-strong colony of King and Gentoo penguins to watch their playful antics on the snow and their elegant flight underwater.

A walk through replica of Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s Antarctic hut (established back in 1911), complete with authentic memorabilia offers a glimpse at what it was like to live 100 years ago in the coldest place on Earth

You can visit the Stingray Bay for an awe-inspiring look at the giant  stingrays, before delving deep into the Underwater World to see the rich variety of species from New Zealand’s coastal waters. Come face to face with  sharks, turtles, giant rays and other incredible deep sea creatures on the moving walkway.

While this is quite interesting, its fairly expensive to visit even with the free shuttle bus... the tour took just over an hour and I wouldn't recommend it although it was interesting.. if that makes sense!

After here and with the rain pouring we picked up lunch and headed back to the hotel for a short rest before going out to celebrate our last night as Elvina leaves tomorrow back to the UK...

We start well and head straight to Sky Tower... even though we did this on our first visit we planned to walk across the glass floors and lean against the slanted windows on the highest observation tower.... I am pleased to say both of us did this with ease... we even faced the glass front ways resting on our stomachs... how cool... we've come so far.... we stop for a few drinks over looking Auckland at night and then head to the casino.... again Elvina has lucky blood... and wins not only on the fruit machines but.... she receives a text message from a colleague who advises her that she has won the monthly draw at work.... winning 3000!!!!!  Lucky or what!!!  Now she can come and visit later!!!!! That's what I've told her anyway!!!!

We leave the casino in the early hours.... Elvina after all has to be ready for her flight tomorrow....so chocolate it is... maybe she won't find her passport and end up staying!!! :)
