Where I stayed
Driving through
Sorry it has been a few days since we last blogged.... So much seems to happen every day, except being able to find wireless internet. Luckily we are in the single most expensive campground in the world (Kevin is hyperventilating in the corner) and we finally have an opportunity to update the past three days.
We left our cozy camp site in Grand Teton National Park and drove south towards Jackson Hole. Jackson Hole is a really cool little town that has worked hard to preserve it's history. The town is dominated by western saloons and gift shops. The surrounding mountains created a beautiful back drop for this old west setting. If Granby CO was right out of a Client Eastwood movie, then Jackson Hole is right out of a John Wayne movie...Although it's a little more tourist driven.
Then there was white water rafting.
Look, it's rare that I complain about anything, but this experience was so awful, that I have to use a public forum to bash this company. We signed up for Sands White Water Rafting... To begin with our appointment was suppose to be between 12 - 3. When we got there they apologized, but they had messed up our reservation and had to move us to later in the afternoon. No big deal... We went to lunch, did some shopping, Kevin quoted bad western movies, and we went on with our lives.
We returned at 3 and went on the Rafting Tour. As advised by the company we left all our things on the bus (keys, hearing aids, towels). When we returned from the trip, apparantly they had switched buses and moved everything around. In the process of there switch they lost our car keys and MY HEARING AIDS! (but at least they got the towel back to us). I was sitting there in complete silence fighting back a panic attack as Kevin threatened the lives of the bus drivers who had made the error.
Apparently many items had been lost when the company tried to switch buses. They did eventually find my Hearing Aids and the car keys. When we got them back they were scratched and dirty, but at least they worked. I don't think the Rafting company completely understood how important hearing aids are for me. The moments of not knowing if they would be recovered were awful. The girl at the front desk was very apologetic when she returned them to us, but the gesture felt empty.
For what it's worth our Rafting guide, also named Kevin, was very good. He knew a lot about the area and nature in generally. He kept the ride informative. The rapids themselves had 2 or 3 fun moments but other then that it was kind of a dull trip. If your going out west and have one chance to do White Water Rafting, I would stay away from Jackson Hole.
We left right after the rafting panic, and began our long drive to San Francisco via Idaho and Nevada!

Oh my gosh!!! You poor thing! You must've been so mad and I can just picture Kevin lecturing them. I think I would've flipped out, but I am sure he was very diplomatic. I CANNOT believe that they messed that up so badly for you guys. I hope you at least got a free T-shirt or something for your trouble.
How did you like the actual white water rafting? I've always wanted to do that!
