June 27

Woke up around 7:15 which I thought was noon or later. For breakfast I ate gallo pintos and scrambled eggs with onions w/freshly squeezed orange juice. After breakfast I went with hermana to drop off comida to the cruise boat.  I then walked around the town with Carmencita ( I always call her Carmilita) and we walked around to the bank and to other stores. So many people are very nice and I said hello to all of them.  I took a nap for about an hour but it felt like I slept for 2-3 hours.  I felt very tired, especially my brain, because it was in constant thinking mode with all the Spanish speaking going on around me and me having to think and formulate sentences to respond back to them. I went to an internet café to try and get my computer ready for Carmincita to use it to chat with her family in Nicaragua but I ended up talking on skype instead.  Then I went for a run along the beach which was extremely beautiful. I stopped by USAC office and met Chino, he is the assistant director for USAC Puntarenas. I asked him about volunteering and he pointed me in the direction of this very low/poor income day care. This is where people with very little money drop their kids off for the day while they go and work. The children have little to no clothes and are very very hungry.  Chino and I chatted about all the questions that I had for 2 hours.  We went to the closest markato and he bought me a H2OH 7up drink which was really good. As I was walking home they young (15-20yo) guys kept blowing kisses to me and calling me over so to their surprise I came right over and started talking Spanish to them.  We talked for about 20 min and then I asked if they wanted play volleyball. I had to teach them but they caught on quickly. So, with a goal being the volleyball net, we played beach volleyball right there on the beach in Puntarenas, Costa Rica.  We played for about 2 hours then we all jumped in the ocean. The ocean was so warm, almost like bathwater. Rain came and went a few times and like the ocean, the rain was like bathwater as well.  I then told them that I needed to get home to eat because I was starving.  I got home and told the cooks at the restaurant (SODA = small restaurant) that I was starving and that I wanted arroz con chimichuri con pesca (rice, special cabbage salad and fish).  I then rode around Puntarenas to deliver comida con Carmicita on a bike. Despues de (afterwards) we got done with the deliveries Carmicita and I rode around on the bikes around town. Since it was a Saturday night everyone was out to greet us. I then went to listen to a church play that children were putting on, that was very interesting because I understood everything they were saying throughout the play.  The room was extremely hot so it was very hard to concentrate. I then came home and went to bed
