Up at 8:30 this morning and we got ready and packed our belongings before going downstairs. We sat in the kitchen with Magga and she showed us some photos and we signed their guest book and she chatted with Guddis. Siggi and Gudrun Margret came in later from working and joined us for some breakfast of homemade skyr and I had some cheese bread too.

After breakfast we left at about 11:00. We drove until we arrived at Valdis's house in Brekka at around 12:30. We had some homemade cake and she showed us some wool she had dyed using all natural colours from plants and beetles. Very interesting.

At 1 we went for a look at Vidimyrarkirkja, the local church from the early 1800s. The caretaker was there and showed us around and told us some stories about the church. I had to sit in the spinster pew. You sat here facing the congregation, or the male side of the congregation as church was the main meeting place of the times.

We wandered around the grounds then drove back to Valdis's place and dropped her off then went on our way. Our next stop was at Blönduós just after 2. We stopped at the local church shaped like a volcano. It was really windy here.

Guddis called her friend Audur and we met her at the local petrol station come eatery. Here we had some lunch, I had a chicken ciabatta and we chatted with Audur. We had an icecream before we left around 2:30.

Our next stop was just before 4 at Žingeyrar Church. Here we got our own private tour inside the church and saw the amazing old pulpits and altar and the pretty golden stars on the blue roof. We got to stand in the pulpit and also have a look upstairs where the choir is usually.

We saw out the window the old cemetery and where the meeting point for the decision making for the area.

Back on the road and we decided to skip the rock shaped like a dinosaur and continue on to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. On the way we saw Grabrok crater and you could see the old lava which once flowed from it.

We arrived at Reykholt at 6:30 and saw the excavated thermal bathing pool and tunnel of Snorri Sturlusson. Also the 19th Century church and the old farm site.

Next stop just after 5 was at Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. I was very impressed by Hraunfossar especially the way the water came out of the ground through the lava, beautiful!

On our way back to Reykjavic at 5:30. We took the tunnel near Akranes and it was a smooth trip to Reykjavik. We stopped to get some fuel and also some dinner closer to Guddis's house. We got some Chinese takeaway which was nice if not a little spicy.

We unpacked the car and then I tried to get organized for a day trip tomorrow. Not sure if I should go to Žórsmörk, Landmannagular or the Snęsfella Peninsula, so will decide tomorrow at the Bus Station. By the time I had a shower and got ready for bed it was about 12:00.
